Viticulture
Sangiovese & beyond
San Felice’s vineyards encompass, over the three individual estates, some 210 hectares. The variety principally grown is naturally sangiovese, the primary grape of the entire Tuscan region; it occupies pride of place not only in our production but in our many research projects as well.
On the estate properties in Chianti Classico and in the Maremma, San Felice works with native varieties, but with the so-called “international varieties” as well, which have adapted very well to local growing environments.
The vineyards are mainly trained to the spur-pruned cordon system, the result of an evolution in the winery philosophy, which aims to place quality production over quantity.
In addition to its Chianti Classico, Agricola San Felice offers as well a wine of long-established global prestige, Brunello di Montalcino, while its wines from the Maremma are experiencing significant demand and great success in the marketplace.
