Campogiovanni
Campogiovanni grows about 2,000 olive trees, all managed with painstaking care. The frantoio and the moraiolo varieties predominate, with small amounts of leccino, as well as of olivastra di Montalcino, traditional to the area. Here, under the beneficent influence of the breezes from off the Mediterranean, the olives enjoy an earlier harvest.
The Campogiovanni oil is an appealing green-shot gold, while the nose opens an impressive spectrum of aromas ranging from fresh grass to dried nuts. The palate is smooth, but a subtle thread of acidity and a restrained pungency show through.
